On February 18, 2018, precisely during a traditional Chinese holiday—Spring Festival—Christians from The Church of Almighty God in France held a New Year’s celebration with the theme of “gratitude” in the parish activity center of the Saint-Germain Church in Vitry-sur-Seine, Paris. This was the first local New Year’s event hosted by these Christians since being forced to flee to France after suffering brutal oppression by the Chinese government. Recently, Human Rights Without Frontiers International (HRWF International) issued a document on its official website urging the authorities of all European Union member states to grant political asylum to Christians of The Church of Almighty God (CAG), who have fled overseas due to the brutal persecution against their faith. Prior to this, nine international non-governmental organizations (NGOs), including CAP Freedom of Conscience (CAPLC), Center for Studies on New Religions (CESNUR), and European Interreligious Forum for Religious Freedom (EIFRF), had jointly denounced the CCP's suppression and persecution on CAG. With the escalating suppression on religious beliefs by the CCP government, tens of thousands of CAG Christians have been arrested and victimized, many of whom were forced to flee to numerous European countries to seek political asylum. However, most applicants have been rejected by the authorities. Their outlooks are grim as they are at risk of being repatriated at any time. Studies by experts have disclosed that, in order to conceal its crime for suppressing and persecuting CAG, the Chinese government has been conducting a massive media offensive internationally to generate false news stories, malicious fabrications and defamation against CAG, making it difficult for refugee agencies of European countries to objectively learn about CAG, much less verify the real situations of individual Christians having been persecuted in China. Mr. Willy Fautré, executive director of HRWF International, calls on governments of EU member states to change their views on CAG. A few days ago, our correspondent visited CAG in France for an understanding of these exiled Christians' current conditions.

Almighty God says, “Such an ordinary flesh holds many unfathomable mysteries. The good news that “the Lord Jesus has returned in the flesh” has long since spread in the land of China, and it has begun to spread to the entire universe. However, some brothers and sisters doubt it because they haven’t seen God’s incarnated flesh with their own eyes. They say that if they can see the Lord who has returned in the flesh with their own eyes, they will recognize him and believe in and follow him. People hold such a viewpoint mainly because they are not clear about the pathway to know the incarnated God and don’t know how to seek God’s appearing and follow God’s footsteps. We may think back: For what reason did we believe in Jesus in the beginning? Did we believe in him because we saw his flesh? Certainly not! We all believed in him because of the grace he bestowed, the work of his being crucified to redeem mankind, and the words he expressed. Let’s look at those who had seen the Lord Jesus’ flesh in the age when the Lord Jesus did the work personally. Did they really recognize that Jesus was the coming Messiah, really recognize that Jesus was God, and really believe in him right after they saw him? The Bible records, “When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am? And they said, Some say that you are John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets. He said to them, But whom say you that I am? And Simon Peter answered and said, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:13-16) From this we see that although people of that time saw or contacted Jesus, and his twelve disciples even stayed with him day and night, yet except that Peter recognized Jesus’ identity after the Father revealed it to him (cf. Matthew 16:17), no one recognized that Jesus was the incarnated God Godself because of having seen Jesus “with his own eyes.” And Judas, a disciple who had followed Jesus for years, even betrayed Jesus for thirty silver coins. If he had made certain that Jesus was the Messiah, would he have dared to do that? Besides, didn’t those chief priests, scribes, and Pharisees also see the Savior Jesus? But did they recognize that Jesus was the Messiah? From the facts that they beat and abused Jesus, insulted Jesus, resisted and condemned Jesus, and eventually nailed Jesus onto the cross, it can be completely proved that they didn’t recognize that Jesus was God though they saw Jesus frequently. From this we see that people cannot know God through seeing the incarnated God, and knowing the image of God’s incarnated flesh is not the pathway for them to know God. To know God, the key is to know God’s substance, namely, God’s work, word, and disposition. In other words, whether people can believe in and follow God doesn’t depend on whether they have seen God’s flesh or how well they know the image of God’s flesh, but depends on whether they have a heart of seeking God and a heart of fearing and obeying God. If people seek the truth with a fearful and obedient heart, they will surely be able to know God from God’s work and word. This is because the work God does man cannot do and the word God speaks man cannot speak. We can see this from God’s first incarnation—Jesus. The appearance of Jesus was no different from that of others, but the work of crucifixion he did no one could do in his stead and the word he spoke no one could speak. So, to know God, we should not neglect God’s work and word, much less take investigating the image of God’s flesh as the pathway to know God. Almighty God says, “God is the greatest above the entire universe and in the entire universe. Could he fully express himself with an image of a flesh? God puts on the flesh for doing a stage of work. The image of the flesh does not mean anything…. His incarnate appearance has nothing to do with his management, and it is only for the sake of his work of that time. However, when God is incarnated, he cannot be without a certain appearance, so he chooses a suitable family to determine his appearance. If his appearance had representative meaning, then all those who have regular features similar to his would represent God. Wouldn’t that be greatly wrong?” (from The Word Appears in the Flesh) From Almighty God’s words, we can see that the image of God’s flesh doesn’t mean anything special, nor does it have any representative meaning, much less can it express God’s substance. Thus, we cannot possibly recognize God’s identity from the image of God’s flesh. All this shows that the viewpoint we hold that “as long as we see the Lord Jesus who has returned in the flesh, we will believe in him” is wrong. It is not in accordance with the truth or with the objective fact.

QUESTION: Where does the “Eastern Lightning” come from?

ANSWER: Most believers in Jesus Christ have heard the “Eastern Lightning” from their pastors, elders, or preachers. But actually no one knows exactly where the Eastern Lightning comes from. There are different opinions about the origin of the Eastern Lightning among the denominations and sects. Some think that the Eastern Lightning is an emerging Christian denomination, some even condemn it as a cult.… People have such erroneous opinions of the Eastern Lightning because they do not have any knowledge of God’s work. God’s work is continuously moving forward. However, because people do not know the principle of God’s work being always new and never old or the purpose of God’s work of saving mankind and because they have satanic disposition—being arrogant and self-right and obeying no one, each time when God does a new work, it will inevitably be blasphemed, persecuted, and condemned by the religious world which obstinately sticks to the old way, and those who accept the new work and preach the true way are imposed on various false charges and are misnamed. The records in the New Testament show us a fact: In order to deliver mankind from punishment for being unable to keep the laws, God was incarnated and began the work of redemption in the Age of Grace. At the time when Jesus worked in Judea, He performed many miracles and signs, healed and cast out demons, bestowed upon people rich grace, and expressed many truths. That was sufficient proof that Jesus was really and completely God Himself, the Messiah that would come. However, the Jewish chief priests, scribes, and Pharisees didn’t believe that Jesus was the Messiah they had desperately longed for. They even slandered, judged, and condemned the work of Jesus as a heresy, a cult. As Jesus grew up in Nazareth and started doing His work in Nazareth, they called Jesus and His followers the Nazarenes. They also accused Paul of being a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes. What can we see from this fact? Every believer in the Lord knows this: When Jesus did the work in Judea, He ushered in the Age of Grace and did the new work of redeeming mankind fully according to God’s own management plan. Whether the Jews or the Gentiles, whether the Zelotes or the Sadducees, as long as they truly thirsted for and sought the true way and followed the only true God, they would be forgiven of their sins and receive God’s salvation. God didn’t need to establish and had never established any religion, organization, or party, so how could He found the sect of the Nazarenes? Therefore, the sect of the Nazarenes was an offensive term fabricated by the chief priests, scribes, and Pharisees who “served” Jehovah in the temple for the purpose of attacking and framing Jesus and condemning His work. It was because of being deceived and controlled by these so-called servants of God that the Jews crucified Jesus and the entire Jewish nation was thus subjected to unprecedented destruction in the end. Similarly, to free man from the endless cycle of committing sins and confessing them and completely rid man of his corrupt satanic disposition and sinful nature so that he will become holy and be fully saved by God, God is incarnated again in the last days and expresses the truths to judge and chastise the corrupt mankind, carrying out a new work in order to utterly purify them. The brothers and sisters who accept God’s gospel of the last days and keep up with God’s new work have undergone the judgment, chastisement, trials, and refinements of God’s word, and seen clearly that Almighty God who expresses the truth in the last days is exactly the returned Lord Jesus. They shout with joy and sing praises to God from the bottom of their hearts, for they have truly realized God’s great exaltation and salvation for them. In order to repay God’s love and help more people follow God’s footsteps and return to God’s household, they rush about everywhere to preach the good news to the brothers and sisters in the Lord who are still eagerly expecting the return of Jesus, telling them that the Lord Jesus has already returned to flesh and come to the east of the world—China, and He ushers in the Age of Kingdom and does a new and high work, the work of judging and purifying man. This has fulfilled Matthew 24:27: “For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even to the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.” The truth God brings this time is higher than in times past, and the brothers and sisters who truly believe in God have all come to the light. And the reaping work God does in the last days will be finished in a short time like lightning. In more than ten years only, God’s kingdom gospel has spread all over the Mainland China, and now is expanding to the entire universe. However, those arrogant, self-right, and stubborn ones in all denominations and sects who hold to the old things and don’t keep up with God’s new work that is irreconcilable with man’s conceptions not only don’t seek or investigate it, but even seize on this Biblical prophecy by which the brothers and sisters testify God’s work of the last days, and wantonly judge, condemn, and slander the Church of Almighty God to be the sect of the Eastern Lightning. What they do is no different from the act of the Jewish religion which attacked, slandered, and condemned Jesus’ disciples and apostles as the Nazarenes. They resist and attack God’s work of the last days in such unbridled way and hinder the people from following God’s footsteps and obeying God’ work. Are they not the Pharisees of the present age who resist and condemn Christ? Is the substance of their act one of hating the truth and blaspheming the Holy Spirit? If Almighty God didn’t speak and disclose the mysteries, we would never understand what the true meaning of the prophecy “For as the lightning comes out of the east, and shines even to the west.” Almighty God says: “Just when all men are giving their attention, when all things renew and revive, and when all people assuredly obey God and are willing to undertake God’s burden and shoulder grave responsibility, the Eastern Lightning comes forth, flashing from the East to the West, and the whole earth is greatly startled because of the coming of this beam of light. God, at this moment, begins a new life again. … That is, in the East of the world, from the time God Himself begins to be testified, to the time He begins to do the work, and to the time His divinity begins to reign on the whole earth, the light beam of the Eastern Lightning shines upon the whole universe all along. When the kingdom of the world becomes the kingdom of Christ, it will be the time the whole universe is lighted up. Now it is the time that the Eastern Lightning comes forth; the incarnate God begins to work and speaks directly in divinity. From the words of Almighty God, we can see that God’s work and word of the last days is the lightning coming from the East. The “lightning” refers to the way of God’s judgment in the last days, that is, the word by which God chastises and judges man. And moreover, it will spread from the East to the West, which is to says, Almighty God first makes complete a group of people who have a true knowledge of God in the East (China), and then has them spread His gospel of the last days to the West, so that people all over the world can receive His salvation of the last days. The lightning of the East (God’s work of judgment in the last days in China) can even more enable us to receive the whole of God’s love and salvation for mankind, know God’s true countenance, and have true reverence and worship for God. God’s word, like the lightning, brings mankind light and hope. All those who accept the lightning of the East, God’s work of the last days, can bear testimony to it.

For years, life has been continuing in this world through generation after generation. Everyone live a life in their respective roles, smooth or rough, poor or rich. No matter what kind of life they live, very few have found the real life. Before the age of 28, I had lived my life as most people do.

On a very common day, I was chosen by God from among the vast sea of people. It was then that I came to know the source of all things, the source of man’s life, and the two different destinations for man, heaven or hell, and I also knew that God, because of mankind’s sin, was incarnated personally and laid down His life for them through His crucifixion, thereby bringing them grace, peace, and joy. This was the first turning point in my life. From then on, I began to preach the gospel and build up the church, and healed the sick and cast out demons in the Lord’s name; I also attended service and studied the Bible. All that almost became my entire life, and I no longer felt empty. The church gradually revived because of God’s favor. The brothers and sisters loved one another and shared everything together. They helped anyone in the church who needed help. As the number in the church increased, the church selected co-workers at different levels, and I became the most senior leader. Everything in the church must be approved by me, and the brothers and sisters also submitted to whatever I said. Later, some puzzling things happened in the church. The sick could not be healed, and the demon-possessed could not be released. The brothers and sisters asked me the reason, and I said, “It is because you lack faith in prayers. You should fast when necessary.” Actually, I myself didn’t know the reason either. Later, such things happened more often. And what’s more, I obviously felt that I had nothing to say in preaching. My sermon was becoming dry as dust, and I was often incoherent with lack of words. The co-workers in the church often raised such question, “What should we preach in the meetings?” I answered them, “I don’t know either. Just read the Bible if you really have no idea what to preach.” But this was only a temporary remedy. Because there was no supply of the living water, the number in the church, which could be maintained in the beginning, began to drop later. Faced with this, I burned with anxiety but did not know why it happened. I could do nothing but pray to God, “Lord, You know best what is happening in our church. In the past, whatever we asked in Your name, You granted it to us, and we often witnessed the signs and wonders. Now, we do the same, calling on Your name, reading the Bible, and praying to You, but why does it not work today? We pray but receive no answer; we preach the gospel but gain no fruit; the number of the believers is decreasing; and some co-workers even want to return to the world to find another way out. Lord! Why so? Please help us!” Later, to recover the love of the brothers and sisters, I asked all in the church to pray in shifts around the clock and to fast on the 21st day every month. I wanted to revive the church by doing so, but I didn’t expect that after practicing for some time, all the brothers and sisters said, “We have no desire to eat in ordinary days, but on the fasting days we feel extremely hungry and can’t hold on.” Having no choice, I came before the Lord again, “O Lord! Please help us! If it goes on like this, we will all be finished! I really don’t know what to do…” Yet the church was still in such condition.

At the end of 1997, a leader from Henan Province said at a meeting, “I tell you one thing. Now a sect, the ‘Eastern Lightning,’ preaches that the Lord has already come, and that He is in China, and is a female. They are very aggressive. They preach especially among the churches of Jesus. You must be wary of them…” From then on, how to resist the “Eastern Lightning” became a necessary topic of our every meeting. And we constantly heard that people from such and such a church had joined the “Eastern Lightning.” We even heard that many key co-workers who had believed in the Lord for years and pursued eagerly had joined it too. I thought to myself: Now the church is in a slump and the number of the believers is on the decline. I must keep a close watch on the church and prevent the brothers and sisters from being deceived. As such, I blindly believed what the leader said without any investigation and began to seal off the church. I told the believers, “You mustn’t receive any strangers, much less the believers in Jesus. Even if they are your relatives, you shall not bring them to the church without my permission. Everyone, whoever he is, must comply. He who disobeys will be expelled!” I also said, “This is all for your good, because your spiritual life is immature and you are lack of discernment. We do so to keep you from being deceived.” I have ever seen anyone of the “Eastern Lightning.” However, in order to prevent these “sheep” from falling into others’ hands and preserve my position, I fabricated rumors to incite people to resist the “Eastern Lightning.” Just as Matthew 23:13 says, “But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for you shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for you neither go in yourselves, neither suffer you them that are entering to go in.” I, like the “evil tenant,” resisted God but was unaware of it. In 1998, the condition of the church was even worse. The co-workers not only had nothing fresh to preach, but they came into conflicts with each other. They judged one another and tried to exclude one another. What worried me most was that opening the Bible, I didn’t know what to preach. The brothers and sisters received no supply of the living water from the meetings, so they would rather rest at home. The whole church came to a dead end. At that time, my only hope was that Jesus could come to take us sooner. It never occurred to me whether God would want a person like me or not. I only wanted to extricate myself from these difficulties as soon as possible.

Troubles came one after another. In July, 1999, my body began to swell. Sometimes it got so serious that I couldn’t stand up after I squatted down. The brothers and sisters fasted and prayed for me, but it didn’t get any better. Later, I went to the hospital for an examination. The doctor told me that a tumor about the size of an egg was in my womb. I was greatly shocked at this. I swallowed my tears and returned home. On the way home, I thought back to the things that had happened in our church: The gospel preaching is ineffective; the attendance gradually drops off; the brothers and sisters are passive and indifferent, and no love is found among them; the co-workers act in envy and strife, and some of them even want to return to the world; the flock is in misery with no supply of grass and living water. I myself have nothing new to provide the brothers and sisters, and now, such illness comes upon me. I was seized with feebleness, both physically and spiritually. Facing the fact that there was no way out for the church and me, I felt very distressed. But what troubled me most was that I didn’t know why these problems happened, much less know how to solve them. At that point, a sense of loneliness ran through me, and I felt helpless and far distant from God, tears flowing down my cheeks. I cried out to God, “Lord! I miss You very much. Only You know my miseries, and only You are my help. But I don’t know where You are now. Lord, where are You? Have You really left me? How can I meet You again? How can I return to the days You were with me? O Lord, I’m almost dying in spirit now. Please appear to me. Please save me! …” I didn’t know how long I prayed and wept bitter tears before God that day.

Almighty God says: “When the waters swallow men whole, I save them from the stagnant waters and give them a chance to have life anew. When men lose their confidence to live, I pull them up from the brink of death, granting them the courage to live, that they take Me as the foundation of their existence. When men disobey Me, I cause them to know Me in their disobedience. In light of humanity’s old nature and in light of My mercy, rather than putting humans to death, I allow them to repent and make a fresh start. When men suffer famine, I wrest them from death so long as they have one breath left….” (from “The Fourteenth Utterance” of God’s Utterance to the Entire Universe in The Word Appears in the Flesh) That’s right! God is love. God is the truth, the way, and the life. Man’s end is God’s beginning. God does not give up anyone whom He has bought at a high price, much less want to see any lamb left with no supply of grass, water, or way to go.

On October 8, 1999, God stretched out His saving hand to me again and pulled me back from the brink of death. That was the second turning point in my life. Almighty God gave me a second life on that day and I could never forget it.

That day, I met two brothers thanks to God’s arrangement. As believers in God, we naturally centered our topic on the church. I told them about the desolation of our church, my illness, and my spiritual weakness. One brother said, “Now the churches are all in such condition. To free the church from the desolation, we should find out the cause of it.” At this, I was very glad. I thought to myself, “I don’t care who they are. If they can help us revive the church, I will listen to them.” But I actually didn’t have much hope on them. They asked me, “Why does man believe in God?” “To go to heaven, to gain eternal life.” I answered. “Should man believe in God if there is no heaven?” they went on. “If so, who will believe?” I replied. Then a brother said, “As a created being, it is only right and proper to serve the Creator. A human being should believe in God and love God, and his faith in God should not be for the purpose of going to heaven.” These few short words pierced into my heart like a knife. I had never heard such words during my years of belief in God, even less had I found anyone pursue in this way. I kept nodding my head, in agreement with every word they said. Frankly speaking, I had met many senior leaders, co-workers of other denominations, and even overseas brothers and sisters, but none of them had talked about such simple yet incisive question. At that time, I seemed to see hope and light. Then, the brother continued, “Man is incapable of freeing the church from the desolation. Do you know how the book of Malachi describes the condition of the holy temple before the coming of Jesus? Malachi 1:8 says, ‘And if you offer the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil? and if you offer the lame and sick, is it not evil? …’ The Israelites under the law lost their fear for God, and they sacrificed blind, crippled, and diseased animals on the altar. This goes to show that the temple was desolate at that time. Matthew 21:12-13 says, ‘And Jesus went into the temple of God, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the moneychangers, and the seats of them that sold doves, And said to them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer; but you have made it a den of thieves.’ Just consider this: If the temple hadn’t been in desolation and men had had the way to go, who would have gone outside the temple to follow the Savior Jesus? As the Age of Grace came, the Holy Spirit began to uphold the work of Jesus Christ instead of the work of the Age of Law. Whoever followed Jesus Christ and entered the Age of Grace had the way to go and could receive the supply of life. Those who failed to follow Him was left in desolation and ended up being eliminated by God’s work. Each time God does His work, He will discard many people who cannot keep pace with His work. Some people under the law would rather die in the temple and not ‘betray’ Jehovah than follow Jesus, yet they did not know that Jehovah and Jesus were one God. Because it was a different age, God took a different name and did a different work; however, God’s substance remained unchanged. All those who resisted Jesus at that time thought they were most ‘faithful’ to Jehovah, but they didn’t know they had resisted the latest work of God. The cause of the desolation of the church today is the same as it was. It is also because God has new work and wants to bring people to another different age that He no longer upholds His former work, and thus the church becomes desolate.” So saying, he picked up the book of God’s word and read: “After the work of Jehovah, Jesus became flesh to do His work amongst man. His work was not carried out in isolation, but built upon the work of Jehovah. It was work for a new age after God had concluded the Age of Law. Similarly, after the work of Jesus ended, God still continued His work for the next age, because the entire management of God is always progressing forward. When the old age passes, it will be replaced by a new age, and once the old work has been completed, a new work will continue the management of God. This incarnation is God’s second incarnation following the completion of Jesus’ work. Of course, this incarnation does not occur independently, but is the third stage of work after the Age of Law and the Age of Grace. Each new stage of God’s work always brings a new beginning and a new age. So too are there corresponding changes in the disposition of God, in His way of working, in the location of His work, and in His name. No wonder, then, that it is difficult for man to accept the work of God in the new age. But regardless of how He is opposed by man, God is always doing His work, and is always leading the whole of mankind forward. When Jesus came into the world of man, He brought the Age of Grace and ended the Age of Law. During the last days, God once more became flesh, and when He became flesh this time, the Age of Grace ended and the Age of Kingdom began. All those who accept the second incarnation of God will be led into the Age of Kingdom, and be able to personally accept the guidance of God.” (from “Preface” to The Word Appears in the Flesh) Then he said, “This stage of God’s work has been carried out dramatically for many years. God is no longer the Jehovah of the Age of Law nor the Jesus of the Age of Grace, but the lion of the tribe of Juda, the Almighty God who is laden with authority. Only when people follow Almighty God and enter into the Age of Kingdom can they receive rich supply, because wherever God is, there is the truth, the way, and the life, and wherever God is, there is a living church life. If people cannot keep pace with God’s latest work, they will naturally have no way to go. This is just as the Bible says: ‘…not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.’ Our church was just like yours in the past, but now we have found the spring of living water—Almighty God. The brothers and sisters are all guided by Almighty God and pursue to satisfy God and love God. They are no longer passive, indifferent, or slack as before!” Hearing what the brother was saying, I felt much more clear. The brother then read me another passage of God’s word: “Only when I pass into the new heaven and earth shall I reveal the other part of My glory first in the land of Canaan, allowing a glimmer of light to shine in the whole earth as dark as night, so that the whole earth will come to it. Let all men across the earth come to draw from the power of the light, allowing My glory to increase and appear anew to all nations. Let all men realize that I have long ago come to the earth and long ago brought My glory from Israel to the East; for My glory shines from the East, where it was brought over from the Age of Grace to this day. But it was from Israel that I departed and from there arrived in the East. Only when the light of the East gradually turns white will the darkness across the earth begin to turn to light, and only then will men find that I have long ago gone from Israel and am rising anew in the East. I cannot still be ‘born’ in Israel after I have ‘descended’ to Israel and then left from Israel, for My work leads all of the universe and the lightning flashes from the East to the West. This is the reason I have descended in the East and brought Canaan to the people of the East. I wish to bring people from all the earth to the land of Canaan, hence I continue to utter My voice in the land of Canaan to control the entire universe. At this time, there is not light in all the earth apart from Canaan, and all men are imperiled by hunger and cold.” (from “The Seven Thunders Peal—Prophesying That the Kingdom Gospel Shall Spread Throughout the Universe” in The Word Appears in the Flesh) After hearing these words, I came to realize why the church became desolate and why I could not find God. “Actually, God has already taken the light to the land of Canaan—the Church of Almighty God. God’s work has progressed forward, yet I fail to keep up with it and still stay where I am, crying to seek God. So, of course, I cannot find Him.” Having known the reason for all of this, I felt much more relaxed. It was then that I knew the real meaning of God’s word, “God is the truth, the way, and the life.” Where there is God, there is the way to go; where there is God, there is the supply of life. I was both guilty and joyful. I felt guilty because I was so blind and ignorant that I didn’t know God’s work and resisted it for so many years; I felt joyful because God didn’t condemn me according to what I had done but stretched out His saving hand to me time and time again. I was bathed in tears for all the day and the night. “O Almighty God! I truly thank You. According to what I have done, I don’t deserve to live in this world. You saved me and gave me a second life. I have no reason to ask anything from You, and even more, I’m not qualified to ask You to forgive the sins I have committed. I only ask You to give me an opportunity to expiate my sins so as to make up for my past transgressions. I’m willing to pay any price to cooperate with Your work and bring those lost lambs back to Your family, so that they will return to You and not live in the darkness any longer. O Almighty God! Please have mercy and compassion on those brothers and sisters who are blinded by deception. May Your Spirit move them to come to You as soon as possible!”

Since then, I have been following Almighty God and walking on the path toward the kingdom. I have been with God once again. Every day I am watered by God’s word and receive new light. With God’s personal guidance every day, I’m growing in life constantly. It is Almighty God who gives me a second life. Brothers and sisters, how is your church now? How is your spiritual state? Do you also desire to receive the spring of living water? Have you found it now? If not, please drop your imaginations and notions and come to investigate the word expressed by Him. Then you will know that Almighty God’s word is the truth, the way, and the life. As Almighty God says: “When you have finished reading this book, when you have experienced each step of the work of God incarnate in the Age of Kingdom, you will feel that the hopes of many years have finally been realized. You will feel that only now have you truly seen God face-to-face; only now have you gazed upon the face of God, heard the personal utterance of God, appreciated the wisdom of God’s work, and truly sensed how real and almighty God is. You will sense that you have gained many things that people of times past have never seen or possessed. At this time, you will clearly know what it is to believe in God, and what it is to be after God’s heart. Of course, if you cling to views of the past, and reject or deny the fact of the second incarnation of God, then you shall remain empty-handed and acquire nothing, and ultimately be guilty of opposing God. Those who obey the truth and submit to the work of God shall come under the name of the second incarnate God—the Almighty. They will be able to accept the personal guidance of God, and shall acquire more and higher truths and receive the real human life. They shall behold the vision that people of the past have never seen: ‘And I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And being turned, I saw seven golden candlesticks; And in the middle of the seven candlesticks one like to the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the breasts with a golden girdle. His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like to fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shines in his strength.’ (Revelation 1:12-16) This vision is the expression of God’s entire disposition, and such an expression of His entire disposition is also the expression of the work of God when He becomes flesh this time. In the torrents of chastisements and judgments, the Son of man expresses His inherent disposition through the speaking of words, allowing all those who accept His chastisement and judgment to see the true face of the Son of man, a face that is a faithful depiction of the face of the Son of man seen by John. (Of course, all this will be invisible to those who do not accept the work of God in the Age of Kingdom.) The true face of God cannot be fully articulated using the words of man, and so God used the expression of His inherent disposition to show His true face to man. Which is to say that all those who have experienced the inherent disposition of the Son of man have seen the true face of the Son of man, for God is too great and cannot be fully articulated using the words of man. Once man has experienced each step of God’s work in the Age of Kingdom, then he shall know the true meaning of John’s words when he spoke of the Son of man among the lampstands: ‘His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like to fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shines in his strength.’ At that time, you shall know beyond all doubt that this ordinary flesh that has spoken so many words is really the second incarnate God. And you shall truly sense how blessed you are, and feel yourself the most fortunate. Would you be unwilling to accept this blessing?” (from “Preface” to The Word Appears in the Flesh)

Ironclad Proofs of God’s Words Conquering Denominations’ and Sects’ Leaders

I was formerly a leader of the Justification by Faith Church in the city of Guichi. Before I accepted Almighty God’s work of the last days, I, like all brothers and sisters, had been eagerly expecting the Lord Jesus’ coming again. But because of the constant “warnings” from the senior leader above and the biblical verse that there will surely appear many false Christs in the last days, I became one who resisted and condemned God’s work of the last days. Thinking of these, I feel very guilty. Now, I will tell brothers and sisters my personal experience, hoping that brothers and sisters will learn a lesson from it and come back to God’s family soon.

One day in September 1999, I was collecting cotton on our own threshing floor, because it was going to rain. Two sisters who preached the work of the last days of Almighty God came to me. Seeing them, I said, “How come you preachers of the false way come again to draw me? Save your breath! I won’t be deceived by you! You say that God has come, but no matter what you say, I believe that whatever departs from the Bible is false, because it says clearly in Matthew 24:36 that no one knows when the Lord comes. How could you know?” Seeing that they didn’t leave, I swore, “What a cheek, like the skin of an old sow! I will never let you enter my house!” I ran back home as I swore, and shut them out.

Soon, it began to rain. The two sisters didn’t have their umbrella with them and had to stand in the rain. Then I thought to myself, “They don’t get angry in spite of my abuse and don’t leave even when it rains. For what do they do so? For money? No! I won’t give them money. For fame? No! The worldly people all ridicule them as insane. They are not afraid of being mocked or abused or suffering. I have to ask them for what they do so.” Just when I was about to open the door, I remembered the words of the senior leader, “Those who preach that God has been incarnated and has opened the little scroll are from the ‘Eastern Lightning.’ No matter who they are and in what weather and at what time they come, don’t sympathize with them, much less receive them.” So, I began to struggle in my heart, “If what they believe in is false, why do they have far greater faith, love, and patience than we believers in Jesus? Am I a believer in Jesus by treating them this way?” I walked back and forth in the room and didn’t know what to do. The struggle in my heart was very fierce. The rain outside became heavier and heavier. In the end, I couldn’t bear it any longer, and said to myself, “Regardless of whether it is true or false, I have to ask them first for what they do so and where their faith, love, and patience come from.”

I opened the door and saw that they got soaked and trembled with cold. I felt quite sorry and let them in. As there were no clothes at home for them to change into, I urged them to hurry home. The sisters said, “If we want to go back, why do we wait until now? Brother, we come just to talk about the Bible with you.” My heart was moved by their sincerity. At that point, I no longer considered how people in the church would think about me, and said to them, “Just say whatever you want to!” One sister said, “Brother, we’ve come to fellowship with you about what Christ is.” I said, “Jesus is Christ and Christ is Jesus.” The sister continued, “Why can Jesus be called Christ?” I said, “Because the Lord Jesus is God, He is called Christ.” The sister asked again, “Is Jehovah not God? Why can He not be called Christ?” I said, “Christ means the anointed King.” The sister went on, “Saul, David, and Solomon were all anointed and were kings, but why could they not be called Christ?” Her questions rendered me speechless. Seeing that I was silent, she said, “Why can Jehovah not be called Christ? Because He only has full divinity and does not have a normal humanity. Why could Saul, David, or Solomon not be called Christ? They only had humanity and didn’t have full divinity, so they couldn’t be called Christ. Then why can Jesus be called Christ? Because He has both full divinity and a normal humanity, He is called Christ.” I was suddenly enlightened, “Ah! That’s how it is then. Thank God very much!” The sister went on, “Christ refers to the incarnate God. Only the incarnate God can be called Christ or the Son of man. In the Bible, Jesus is called Christ and the Son of man many times but Jehovah is never called Christ or the Son of man. This is because Jehovah is the Spirit and cannot be called Christ. When Christ or the Son of man is mentioned, it refers to the incarnate God. In the Bible, the prophets such as Ezekiel and Daniel are also called the ‘son of man.’ Although they and Christ were both men outwardly, they were different in substance. Ezekiel and Daniel could only speak some words and do some work among the people in behalf of Jehovah, and they were human in substance and were performing the duty that a created being should do. Christ, however, is different. He is God’s Spirit in substance, and when He speaks and works, He is performing His ministry. Although Christ can be called the Son of man, not all sons of man can be called Christ. Except the incarnate God, no one else can be called Christ. In the Bible, it mentions the Son of man many times, such as Matthew 24:27, 30; 25:31, Luke 17:30, and Revelation 14:14. Moreover, the Bible prophesies that the Lord Jesus will appear with the image of the Son of man when He comes again. Let’s read Luke 17:22-30. The Lord Jesus said to the disciples, ‘The days will come, when you shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and you shall not see it. And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them. For as the lightning, that lightens out of the one part under heaven, shines to the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day. But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation. And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.’ From these verses, it’s not difficult for us to see that when God comes again, He will also appear as the Son of man. When the Son of man is mentioned, it refers to the incarnate God. We have just mentioned that the incarnate Son of man has a normal humanity and full divinity and the spiritual body cannot be called the Son of man. The Lord Jesus said to His disciples personally, ‘The days will come, when you shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and you shall not see it.’ Does the word ‘the days will come’ mean that the days have come or not? Do they refer to the time He was incarnated or the future time?” I said, “They refer to the time the Lord Jesus was incarnated.” The sister continued, “If the Lord Jesus meant Himself, why did He say the word ‘The days will come, when you shall desire to see one of the days of the Son of man, and you shall not see it’? If the Lord Jesus was referring to Himself, hadn’t the disciples seen Him already? Moreover, they had followed Him and known that He was the Son of man and the Christ. (Matthew 16:15-16) How could He say that they shall not see it? Obviously, He wasn’t referring to the time He was incarnated but was speaking a prophecy concerning His coming again. He also prophesied that there would be false Christs appearing when He came back. In Luke 17:23, it says, ‘And they shall say to you, See here; or, see there: go not after them, nor follow them.’ The Lord Jesus was warning people that they should not be deceived by false Christs when He came the second time, because where there is God’s work, there is Satan’s work. Man cannot recognize or know the image God takes when He comes by his physical eyes. Can man really know what image God will take when He comes again? Acts 1:11 says that the Lord Jesus will come in the same way as He went. At that time, the Lord Jesus went up in the clouds with the image of a Jew, dressed in the Jewish clothes, and with the print of the nails and the wounds of spears. Are you sure that He will still be like this when He comes again? If it were the case, whom should the Son of man described in Revelation refer to? It is written in Revelation 1:13-16, ‘And in the middle of the seven candlesticks one like to the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the breasts with a golden girdle. His head and his hairs were white like wool, as white as snow; and his eyes were as a flame of fire; And his feet like to fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters. And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of his mouth went a sharp two edged sword: and his countenance was as the sun shines in his strength.’ Then how should man know this appearance? Moreover, in Luke 24:13-16, it is written, ‘And, behold, two of them went that same day to a village … Jesus Himself drew near, and went with them. But their eyes were held that they should not know him.’ John 20:14-15 says, ‘And when she had thus said, she turned herself back, and saw Jesus standing, and knew not that it was Jesus. Jesus said to her, Woman, why weep you? whom seek you? She, supposing him to be the gardener….’ So, man cannot recognize God through the outward appearance; rather, he can only know God through God’s work and word. Isn’t the Pharisees’ resistance against God a typical case? So, the Lord Jesus warned us many times not to be deceived by false Christs and also taught us how to distinguish false Christs. In Matthew 24:23-24, it is written, ‘Then if any man shall say to you, See, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders; so that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.’ Here the Lord Jesus was giving us a hint that when God came again, He would not perform these signs and wonders but would do a new work, and if anyone performed signs and wonders, he must be a false Christ, a deceiver. We should know God from His work, as Christ cannot be recognized by man through His appearance. Since the Son of man comes, He will surely bring His new work. But a false Christ cannot bring any new work, and it only imitates and follows the work God did to achieve its purpose of deceiving people. While Satan is imitating the work Jesus did (healing the sick, driving out the demons, and performing signs and miracles), God has already done a new work again. God’s work is always done based on Satan’s plots. So, the Lord Jesus repeatedly taught us that anyone who misuses the name of Jesus and heals the sick, drives out the demons, and performs signs and wonders and says that he is the returned Lord Jesus is a false Christ. In Luke 17:24, the Lord Jesus prophesied the work He would do when He came again, ‘For as the lightning, that lightens out of the one part under heaven, shines to the other part under heaven; so shall also the Son of man be in his day.’ He prophesied that the work the Son of man did when He came again would be like the lightning and would be done from the east to the west in the universe and be finished within the shortest time. That indicates that the work God does when He comes again will be done very quickly. As it is the work of reaping, it can be finished within a short time, and will not last two thousand years like the work of sowing. If it is a new work, that is, the work that has never been done, such as reaping, purifying, winnowing, and judging, which is beyond man’s capacity, it is undoubtedly God’s work. We should be cautious and not miss it! We should know God according to the work God does, and this is most after the Lord’s heart.”

“However, when God opens a new age and does a new stage of work, He will be confronted with many people’s resistance and great hindrances. This is because men are ignorant about the direction of the Holy Spirit’s work and they resist God’s new work according to God’s former work, measure God’s work by their imaginations and notions, and check God’s new work according to the old regulations. Every time when God is incarnated to do the work of saving men, men don’t like to accept or follow but instead do their utmost to resist, saying that this is a deceiver coming, and also spread slanders, blasphemies, and condemnations. God is so great, noble, and holy, yet He is incarnated into the world and lives with the most corrupt and filthy people, and He, humble and hidden, is saving men in obscurity. Men not only don’t repay God but requite evil for good, denying Him as the true God, and reviling, mocking, ridiculing, and rejecting Him. God endures all these silently for man’s sake. This is what will happen when Jesus comes again, as prophesied by Jesus personally, and is the true meaning of the word ‘But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation,’ (Luke 17:25) which prophesies that He will suffer many things when He comes the second time. The word ‘and be rejected of this generation’ means that He will not be accepted by this generation again. If He comes as a spiritual body and not as an incarnate flesh, He need not suffer, not to mention being rejected by men. Because when He is a spiritual body, He is not restrained by space or geography, and only the incarnate Son of man will undergo such sufferings.” I argued at once, “It means that Jesus suffered many things when He was on earth, and it doesn’t mean that He will be incarnated when He comes again.” The sister said, “Well, we will be clear after reading the following scriptures in Luke 17:26-30, ‘And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.’ From these verses, we see that the day when the Son of man is revealed is like the days of Noah and the days of Sodom when they all were destroyed. If it referred to the fact that the Lord Jesus Himself suffered things at that time, firstly, it would not be called a prophecy. This is because a prophecy prophesies things that have not happened; only if it prophesies things that will be fulfilled in the future can it be called a prophecy; otherwise, it is not called a prophecy. Secondly, if it referred to the fact that Jesus suffered things at that time, why did Jesus say that the day when the Son of man comes will be like the days of Noah and the days of Sodom? As we all know, the days of Noah were the days of destruction of the flood when the whole world was cursed and destroyed by God and only the eight people of Noah’s family received God’s blessings and were left. The days of Lot were the days when Jehovah God destroyed the sins of the city of Sodom. Because the sins of the people of Sodom reached Jehovah’s ears, God poured down the brimstone and fire from heaven and burned them all and only left three people of Lot’s family. If it referred to the first incarnation of the Lord Jesus, how do we explain it that we have never seen any work of destruction done by God over the two thousand years after the Lord came to the world? Doesn’t it refer to the second coming of the Son of man?”

Through the biblical verses we studied and the sister’s fellowship, I knew much about God’s coming again through being incarnated as the Son of man. Thank God very much! I was much enlightened! Then I said to them, “I can accept that Jesus will be incarnated when He comes again, but I still don’t understand one thing. You say that God has come, but the Bible says, ‘But of that day and that hour knows no man … but the Father.’ Then how do you know that?” The sister answered, “It means that man cannot possibly know the specific time of Jesus’ coming again. But when God comes and begins to work, won’t people know it? This is like Jesus’ first coming. First, Mary and Joseph knew it. Then after He was born, the three Magi and the shepherds knew it. When He began to perform His ministry, His disciples knew it; and the woman of Samaria said that He was Messiah, the Savior. If no one knew it, how could His work be carried out? The object of God’s work is man, so His work requires man to cooperate. If no one knew it, how could God save man? The Bible tells us clearly that ‘the letter kills, but the spirit gives life.’ Today, if we hold fast to the Bible and deny God’s work of today, aren’t we too rash and thoughtless? If it were the case, as we imagine, that He who does not come with white clouds is not Jesus, why would Jesus have spoken so many parables and prophesied things about His coming again? The Lord repeatedly warned us to watch, but we misunderstand Jesus’ words and just ‘close the door tight.’ As such, to guard against false ones, we shut the real One out. What will we gain in the end through believing in God then?” What the sister said and the biblical prophecies made me change my mind: The fulfillment of the biblical prophecies cannot be within the Bible, and since it is beyond “the Bible,” it means that God has done a new work. Only God can do new work, and no one else can make such a start. And the sister said, “All that we have known and talked about today is in God’s word. God has made all the mysteries and truths clear to man. As long as you read God’s word more, you will understand the truths of all aspects and all your notions and difficulties will be solved by God’s word.”

Unconsciously, we talked like this for several hours. Thank God for His enlightenment, so that I understood many truths and mysteries I had been unclear about in believing in God for years. From the fulfillment of the biblical prophecies and the speech and living out of the people led by Almighty God, I was sure that the incarnate Almighty God today is the Jesus who has appeared. I was really remorseful for my deeds, blindness, and ignorance and regretted that I believed in God for years but didn’t know God, and blindly believed people’s rumors, rejected the true way, and drove away the brothers and sisters who preached the gospel. Yet, God didn’t treat me according to my evil deeds but saved me time after time and brought me back to His throne. I sincerely hope that the brothers and sisters who have not come before Almighty God will not be like me, who believed in God but relied on men. Wake up! Almighty God is the returned Jesus, only He can bring us the truth, the way, and the life, and only Almighty God can spare us from the disasters of the last days. Come back to God’s family quickly! Almighty God is expecting us!
